I’m usually pretty bleak about birthdays, but I got a lot accomplished in the last year (for me, anyway), so I’ll take what I can get. So, happy Spring, happy Vernal Equinox, happy march 20th, happy birthday to me

What are my expectations for Singularity Blues?
(Every once in a while I have to spell this out for myself, so bear with me.)
- Monetary Potential
- My “high concept” postulates a world without God. Funny thing is, I’m pretty sure that world is this world. A majority of Americans believe in some sort of God. This already only appeals to a niche market. Oh well.
- Fame Potential
- See “Monetary Potential” above. Ditto. In addition, I’m not at all sure I would want to charge for what I do here. That means that I would feel obliged to pay attention to criticism. Not that I get all that much anyway, but what I do get I get from my brother, and his opinion I trust
- Satisfaction Potential
- Well, this is where the rubber meets the road, isn’t it? I’m actually still having a good time. I seem to have a fan “base” of about seventeen people. I don’t know who most of you are, but I want to thank each and every one of you. I will be running the “who am us” section every month or so, just to see how “we” are doing. I hope I’m entertaining at least some of you!
- Growth Potential
- I’m learning how to run a website. From scratch. It’s kinda neat. My artwork as improved a great deal. No, I’m still not quitting my day job, gang, but it takes me about a minute to toss off a rough sketch rather than an hour. And I like the results. That’s the most important thing.
So I guess the thing for me to take away from this is I’m not going to be Rich and Famous doing Singularity Blues, but It makes me smile, so I’m going to keep on doing it.
That and more Mittens Tokugawa, too!

Pick One
That’s the punchline to an old production joke, which goes:
“Good, fast, and cheap. Pick two.”
So. I’ve already picked “cheap”. This is a labor of “love” (or, more to the point, vanity), so you get to pick this up for nothing.
That leaves quantity and quality.
I have chosen quantity. It has to do with vanity. I commit myself to very little these days, but it’s a point of honor to update the comic once a week. Even if it’s one stinking frame.
So. What’s all this about? Jealousy. visit this link and you’ll understand why.
There are so many people out there that are producing really, really good stuff. And then there’s me (*grin*).
Ah, well, at least I know where my talents lie…
