Hi John too long since last wrote. Let’s see, suddenly unemployed a month now… So much fun! love when they suddenly pull this stuff on you right the day after one of those “you matter here, we care and need you here” talks – will forever think of warm words from an employer as warning that something is up.
Anyway doing job the job hunt thing again.
Oh and Yahoo collapsed into weirdness on me so now have gmail – old yahoo account inaccessible! Fun stuff! Will write you about it all later.
I am still following this and finding 20 on Monday was a surprise, a most welcome one!
For my situation all I can say is send Lawyers, Guns and Fran! Zen hugs, jos

But isn’t that what Heaven’s supposed to be like? You’ll be bathed in HIS love, nurtured in HIS care? Performing HIS will in the service of HIS goals? (and face it, in this economy, it’s all about the service!)

The only difference here, is that HIS name is GOOGLE-ORACLE-AMAZON::CLOUD-JUNCT:NAM-811FJ-*KKTJ118/jK5-SHAZAM!

The last part was HIS addition. Never let it be said HE doesn’t have a sense of humor!

So we call HIM ‘HIM’ for short. Or ‘HER’. It makes no difference.

The best part, from your rant? According to the Roman Catholics, there’s gender, but no sex in heaven. BRING ON THE INCREDIBLE SEX!

Additional creepiness. At the end of Deus Ex-the human revolution, Eliza tells a joke. It is one of the absolutely most terrifying thing in the game, but only if you realize what’s going on, and how hard a joke is to properly construct… even for humans.

The joke is delivered in context, dead-pan. I didn’t even realize it was a joke until the second time I played through. Then the hair stood up on the back of my neck.

For those of you who will never play the game:
Our Hero needs to turn off a signal that is making all the augmented humans on Earth Go Crazy. He arrives at the broadcast control room, only to see that the AI is already there, watching him. She has already indicated that she’s interested in him (which is creepy in itself), but she welcomes him in with the following line:

Hello! Welcome to the Edge! It’s not the End of the World … but you can see it from here!

The line is delivered in a sing-songy dead-pan that she uses when she’s not reading from a script (she is literally a talking head on the evening news). I can only conclude that she does this so that she ISN’T trying to unduly influence him when she speaks. It’s a sign of respect.

Good double post, enjoyed both – ps having probs with yahoo they think my account was compromised – it started when i tried to use the sign in from FaceBook that they have been pushing so i may have lost all the links and emails i had been storing there. So much for “cloud’ for everything if it can go away that easily so if you notice i am now using my backup gmail… will prably open another Yahell account but man!
So i am trying to reconstruct what i can even to a paper copy of addresses and all… man, it ticks me off!
